After searching for several years “my (wo)man” came into being.Travels to Africa and Asia laid the groundwork.
I was inspired by my travels through Africa and Asia. The focus of my work is on vulnerable people, particularly women and children. The recurrent theme is centred around those “who are not being included”. This social aspect reverberates through all my work. The women and children who are not being included are symbolic for power, concern, innocence and vulnerability. My works are being created spontaneously. I never have a preconceived plan. By experimenting with several techniques my work comes into existence rather randomly. The vulnerable aspect comes to the fore in materials such as rice paper, ink and delicate textiles. The attentive observer sees that my persona is not finished: something is always missing. That is why I adhere to the motto: imperfection is beauty.
